The Pablove Foundation is named after Pablo Castelaz, the son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill. On May 17, 2008, Pablo was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms' Tumor, a rare form of children's cancer. The cancer appeared out of nowhere, with no warning signs in Pablo's general demeanor or health. He underwent treatment at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. On June 27, 2009, Pablo's individual fight with cancer ended. But we fight on in his name, with the spirit of love that Pablo embodied and inspired.

Childrens Hospital Los Angeles sits at the intersection of Sunset and Hollywood Boulevards–literally the crossroads of Hollywood, Los Feliz and Silverlake, LA's indie rock and roll heart. CHLA is a not-for-profit, independent operation. They treat everyone, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. In 2007, they treated over 93,000 children, and doled out $54 million in charitable care to children whose families were not able to pay for treatment, or who simply do not have insurance.

The Pablove Foundation directly supports the pediatric cancer community in and around CHLA. In the months Pablo's family spent around the hospital, a fire flared up in their hearts. They have seen how much help the doctors, researchers, administrators and legions of volunteers at CHLA need in their effort to lay it down for the kids. It's all about the kids. But the helpers, and the support system, need all the help they can get.

Specifically, the Pablove Foundation makes an annual contribution to cancer research and treatment at CHLA's Saban Research Institute, one of the top cancer research facilities in the United States. It also supports play activities, music and arts programs, and sponsors play rooms in the soft tumor units at CHLA. These 'units' are actually entire floors of the hospital, which are filled with brave, beautiful children at any time of the year. A strolling minstrel, a board game, a book, or an art easel bring such joy to the heart of a child whose life has been temporarily reduced to a small hospital room.

Rolled out the Sam Flores Opening Reception at Subliminal Projects to check his exhibit "Ego, Addiction & Other Bedtime Stories." Rolled out to Culver City to the Honor Fraser Gallery to check out some work by the increasingly popular pop artist KAWS. KAWS mostly reworks popular images such as the Simpsons into his own vision... Prophet, Brian "Deep" Watters, Jessie Malay and Krystle came out to support as well.

Went to my backyard in Old Town Pasadena for an artist show down on Raymond Street. A nice little eclectic group of admirers were there to support the work of Nestor Rodriguez. Steve Gates put the show together and definitely check out this nice little spot next to Jamba Juice off of Colorado Street... many other artists show their work off there in the windows and inside the building...
